Scot Byars has been the Adobe Squares caller since July of 2003. Scot William Byars has been calling for over 36 years. He has participated in over 400 festivals throughout the United States and performs as the featured caller for over 70 dances and anniversary parties each year. Scot started calling and instructing at the age of eleven. All through his teen years, and up to the present time, Scot has instructed several square dance classes each year and estimates he has taught over 1700 people how to square dance. Scot did not confine himself to square dancing. Trained in round dancing and clogging, he was one of the first clogging instructors in California. Scot received training in jazz, tap, ballet and modern dance.
Erin Elizabeth Byars, Scot’s wife, has been cueing for over 28 years. Her upbeat-animated cueing style through phase V has been entertaining dancers throughout the United States. Her fondness for new-dancers is well known, and is evident in her fresh approach to instruction at all levels.
